Photography?

People suddenly fave my amateurish "wish-I-was-pro" photos as soon as I upload them. O_o Either photography really has a lot more fans than digital art, or I just really suck at it. I don't want to give up on digital art just yet, but it feels like I just don't have the time for it. X____X

I could use some help on the technical side of photography though. If anybody actually reads this, do you guys have any suggestions? I'm currently using a Canon EOS 450D with the lens it came with (18mm - 35mm) and its built-in flash. Suggestions on accessories? And help explain to me what most of these buttons do? >.o;;;
